BACKGROUND

Mission

To provide loans and grants to needy and eligible Tanzanian Students for Higher and Tertiary Education.

Vision

To be a reliable and sustainable revolving fund in financing eligible Tanzanian Students for Higher and Tertiary Education.

Core Values

The core values which will guide HESLB in achieving its objectives are:

Functions

  1. To assume responsibility for the control and management of all loanable funds as vested in the Board.

  2. To formulate the mechanism for determining eligible students for payment of loans.

  3. To administer and supervise the whole process of payment and repayment of loans

  4. To keep the register and other records of students loan beneficiaries under the Board

  5. To advise the Minister on matters of policy and of the law concerning provisions and recovery of loans to students.

  6. To establish operational links between the Board and higher education institutions with student loan beneficiaries for facilitating a smooth, efficient and effective administration of the loan funds

  7. To establish operational links with employers of loan beneficiaries for the purpose of facilitating the recovery of the loans granted.

  8. To establish networking and cooperation links on a mutually beneficial basis with institutions and organizations, be they governmental or non-governmental, local,foreign or international

  9. To conduct research and maintain a data bank on other local and external scholarships, sponsorships and awards that may be accessed by Tanzanian students in need or in search of opportunities and financial sponsorship or assistance for higher education and/or training.

  10. To ensure the overall efficient and effective implementation of the provisions of the Act and of any such other written law concerning Government loans and

  11. To perform such other functions as are conferred upon the Board by or under the Act or any other written laws.

UPDATES, INFORMATIONS AND NOTIFICATIONS

WANAFUNZI WAPYA 5,168 WAPANGIWA MIKOPO YA TZS 19.9bn


Jumanne, Novemba 17, 2020

BODI ya Mikopo ya Wanafunzi wa Elimu ya Juu (HESLB) inawajulisha waombaji wa mikopo na wadau wengine kuwa imetoa orodha ya Awamu ya Pili yenye wanafunzi 5,168 wa mwaka wa kwanza waliopangiwa mikopo yenye thamani ya TZS 19.9 bilioni.

Itakumbukwa kuwa Novemba 11, 2020, HESLB ilitangaza orodha ya Awamu ya Kwanza iliyokuwa na wanafunzi wa mwaka wa kwanza wapatao 47,305 waliopangiwa mikopo yenye thamani ya TZS 150.03 bilioni.

Hivyo, hadi leo (Jumanne, Novemba 17, 2020), jumla ya wanafunzi 52,473 wa mwaka wa kwanza wamepangiwa mkopo yenye thamani ya TZS 170.02 bilioni.

Wanafunzi wanatakiwa kutembelea katika akaunti zao za SIPA walizotumia kuomba mkopo na watapata taarifa za kina kuhusu mkopo.

Waliokosea sasa ruksa kurekebisha

Kuhusu wanafunzi waombaji ambao maombi yao yana upungufu, HESLB imewapa siku tano (05) kuanzia kesho (Jumatano, Novemba 18, 2020) kurekebisha taarifa zao kwa njia ya mtandao.

Hivyo, kuanzia kesho wataweza kuingia katika akaunti zao za SIPA walizotumia kuomba mkopo na kurekebisha kwa kuweka nyaraka sahihi na HESLB tutazifanyia uchambuzi na wenye sifa watapangiwa mikopo mapema iwezekanavyo.

Bajeti ya Mikopo 2020-2021

Katika mwaka 2020/2021 Serikali imetenga TZS 464 bilioni kwa ajili ya mikopo ya wanafunzi 145,000. Kati yao, wanafunzi 54,000 watakuwa wa mwaka wa kwanza na 91,000 ni wanafunzi wanaoendelea na masomo.
